A Perfect World (Clint Eastwood, 1993)
Régis Wargnier, director of Indochina (Indochine, 1992), will introduce one of Eastwood's greatest hits, A Perfect World, on Wednesday 14 October (20:30) at the Théatre du Vieux Givors.
Childhood was one of the big themes of Wargnier's second film, I'm the King of the Castle (Je suis le seigneur du château, 1989) starring Dominique Blanc and Jean Rochefort. He will be introducing another film focusing on childhood, A Perfect World, a remarkable odyssey of a criminal and a boy.
It's one of Eastwood's greatest films, in which he strongly denounces all black-and-white thinking. But the role of ranger that he plays is an unusual one for him, showing all the character's weaknesses. It's a masterpiece that's one of Wargnier's favourites.
