Repulsion issued in blu-ray
Roman Polanski’s first English-language film in 1965, starring Catherine Deneuve and with a script by Gérard Brach, was a sensation and became a cult film. David Kehr, of the New York Times, reviews it again as it comes out in blu-ray. A year Antonioni’s Blowup, Polanski chose “Swinging London” as the scene for the schizoid love-affairs of Carole Ledoux (Catherine Deneuve). The Polish director, who had made his name with Knife in the Water (1962), arrived in a city bursting with cultural innovation, with music everywhere. He then met Deneuve, at the time the girlfriend of fashion photographer David Bailey.
