Scorsese and World Cinema Foundation join up with theauteurs.com
Martin Scorsese and the World Cinema Foundation he helped found have begun working with the website The Auteurs to put rare films online for free.
Scorsese conferred at this year’s Cannes Festival with Efe Cakarel, head of The Auteurs, and distributors such as Hengameh Panahi, of Celluloid Dreams, who encourage distribution of film classics. The goal will be to restore films from all over the world, most of them very hard to see publicly, and put them online free to reach the widest possible audience.
