Forgotten masterpieces
Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America is high on the incomplete (and biased) list by the website sky.com of films, directors and actors and actresses unfairly ignored at the annual Academy Awards (Oscars) over the years.
Alfred Hitchcock, David Lean’s Brief Encounter 1945, based on a Noel Coward play, with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson, Orson Welles, Dennis Hopper’s Easy Rider, Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun, Peter O’Toole, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and Robert Altman have all been neglected or snubbed in the Awards.
